Introduction
Well Counted ("we", "us", "our") provides audit, accounting, tax and consulting services to businesses in the United Arab Emirates. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website or engage us, why we collect it, and the choices you have over it.
It applies to this website and to the information you share with us in the course of an engagement. Where an engagement letter says something different about a specific matter, the engagement letter takes precedence.
02
Information we collect
We only collect what we need to answer you and to do the work you have asked us to do.
- Contact details you give us — name, company, email address, phone number and the message you send through the consultation form or over WhatsApp.
- Engagement information — the financial records, invoices, statements, trade licence details and supporting documents you provide so that we can prepare accounts, file returns or complete an audit.
- Identification documents where we are required to verify who you are under anti-money-laundering and know-your-client rules.
- Technical information about your visit — browser type, device, approximate location and the pages you viewed — collected in aggregate to understand how the site is used.
We do not ask for payment card details on this website, and we will never request your banking passwords or one-time codes by email, phone or message.
03
How we use your information
- To respond to enquiries and arrange consultations.
- To carry out the services set out in your engagement letter.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including tax filings, audit standards and anti-money-laundering checks.
- To send service updates and, where you have asked for them, occasional notes on regulatory changes that affect UAE businesses.
- To maintain and improve the security and performance of this website.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
04
Our basis for processing
We process personal information where we have your consent, where it is necessary to perform a contract with you, where we are required to do so by UAE law, or where we have a legitimate interest in running our practice that is not outweighed by your rights.
Where processing rests on your consent — a marketing subscription, for example — you can withdraw it at any time without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it.
06
How long we keep it
Engagement records are kept for the period required by UAE tax and commercial-companies legislation — generally five to seven years from the end of the relevant financial year — and longer where an audit, dispute or investigation is still open.
Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are kept for up to twenty-four months, then deleted.
07
How we protect it
We use access controls, encrypted transmission, reputable hosted platforms and staff confidentiality undertakings to protect the information in our care. Access to client records is limited to the people working on your file.
No system is perfect. If a breach occurs that is likely to affect your rights, we will notify you and the relevant authority without undue delay.
08
Your rights
Subject to the record-keeping duties that apply to a regulated practice, you may ask us to:
- Confirm what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy of it.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep.
- Restrict or object to a particular use of your information.
- Stop sending you marketing communications.
Write to us using the details below. We will respond within thirty days, and we will not charge you for a reasonable request.
10
Information held outside the UAE
Some of the platforms we rely on store data on servers outside the UAE. Where that happens, we satisfy ourselves that the provider offers a standard of protection comparable to the one described in this policy, and we put contractual safeguards in place.
11
Changes to this policy
We review this policy periodically and will publish any update on this page with a revised date. Material changes affecting existing clients will be notified directly.
